Early Education and Care and School Age Advocacy Day February 12, 2008 – State House
Karen Frederick, Executive Director of Community Teamwork, Inc., in Lowell, welcomes the crowd to Advocacy Day. Over 800 early educators, school age counselors, parents, grandparents, and supporters came to the State House to advocate for increased investments in early education and care programs.
Department of Early Education and Care Commissioner, Ann Reale, rallied the crowd, reminding the audience that no matter what their background was, today they were all early education advocates.
Senate President Therese Murray addressed the crowd assuring them that, “The importance of your work is not lost on the Legislature. And it is certainly not lost on the Senate.”
Young children made Valentine's Day cards, which were given to legislators as Advocacy Day participants visited their policy makers advocating for increased investments in early education and care programs.
