Focus on Week of the Young Child Parents, teachers, caregivers and other adults play important roles in the lives of young children and Week of the Young Child celebrates their efforts. We can show our support for early learning in our community by promoting early literacy programs, thanking teachers who care for our children, and working to ensure that our public policies support early learning for all young children. Week of the Young Child is a time to focus our attention on bringing Pittsfield together for children. I would like to recognize a few early childhood professionals whose hard work and dedication have earned them an Associates Degree in Early Education and Care. With assistance from the Massachusetts' Department of Early Education and Care's Scholarship Program, Building Careers Grant and Community Partnership for Children Grant the following graduates have improved the quality of early education and care programs throughout the county: Rebecca Beham, Katy Broggi, Lorie Dombkowski, Nefertiti Dongala, Jonathan Girard, Dolores Hunt, Susan Jakubowicz, Abigal Ketchum, Elaine Luu, Angellica Muniz, Kristin Naventi, Stefanie Nevins, Shana Shippee, Kimberly Sweeney and Michele Zatorski. Thank you for all you do on behalf of young children! Additionally, please take the time to browse our "galleries" at our Pittsfield Post Office and Greylock Federal Credit Union branches. The work of some of our young artists' will be on display all week. MAGGIE STEELE
